Although the vacation in Kuala Lumpur ended a week ago, it immediately morphed into one of those staycations that you have, which is why you have heard little from me over the last week or so. Our friend Jackie flew in from Seattle to see us (and, possibly, a little bit of India too). As well as being a deeply cool lady, Jackie is a fantastic photographer. I enjoy hosting photographers, because I can scroll through their Facebook feeds to check how much fun I am having.
It’s been a nice opportunity to effectively say farewell to India. As soon as Jackie is back on the plane tonight, we turn our eyes to the UK and the practical aspects of returning to Glasgow. We have three months or so left here in India, and there’s a fair bit to start organising.
Things will also return to normal with the writing. Tomorrow I’ll be back to The 52, and the following weeks will vanish in another writing marathon. Preparing and launching The Flesh Market diluted my writing time considerably over the first few months of this year, but now that it exists in the world it’s on to the next couple of things. Stay tuned.
Rather than talk you through the last fortnight, here are some photos of things that happened in Malaysia and India. If you see me in a photo, you’re probably looking at one that Jackie took. The rest are mine. I offer them without commentary – you are welcome to fill in the stories behind them yourself, 52-style.
So, that was India. Job done.
