The end of the world is a little bit closer than before. Above is the first official promotional image for the upcoming World’s Collider anthology, due this year from Nightscape Press. The art is by Carolyn Edwards, and it’s a strong contender for the the cover image of the book. At the very least, you’ll find it emblazoned on numerous promotional postcards at conventions this year. I love it.
If you haven’t yet, go and like the book’s Facebook page. We’d appreciate the support. This whole project has been a blast to work on (my story ‘Twitchers’ appears towards the end), especially the discussions had between writers about how to make a short story anthology work as a sequential novel. The result, we hope, is going to be the sort of book that doesn’t come along very often, and surprises every one of you.
Elewhere, I still have a broken foot. My occasional fantasies that I will wake up and find it all better are, I’m told, not very realistic, and so I’ll be stuck with it for a couple of months. On Saturday, the current cast comes off, which will be a relief. It will be replaced by a fancy pneumatic boot (as used by David Beckham and Wayne Rooney apparently, though I hope it’s had a wash since then), following which I may become more machine than man. I’m hoping not to throttle you for minor transgressions using the power of the force, but I can’t make any promises.
More likely, I’ll be a bit like Steve Austin, but very, very slow.
