Richard Wright

author of strange, dark fictions

April 19, 2009 by Richard Wright in Journal, Life

My daughter’s first nosebleed erupted tonight. She was perplexed, more than alarmed, and very brave. Afterwards, I changed her blood soaked pyjama top. “Say goodbye to this darling, because blood doesn’t wash out easily.”

“I want to keep it daddy.”

“It’s covered in blood. Nobody wants to wear something that’s covered with blood.”

“I do.”

“Because it’ll scare people.”

Bless her. No idea where she gets it from.
