author of strange, dark fictions

My fiancee and I popped out for dinner last night to the Urban Grill on Glasgow’s southside. A nice place, with a diverting menu – chilli fried swordfish for me, and cajun spiced sea bass for the lady. Worth a visit if you’re in the area, despite the Polish waitress who looked genuinely distressed to be working there. A live pianist plays jazz versions of popular tunes while you eat, which is nice, except when trying to name the song becomes genuinely frustrating. For some reason, every tune sounded like the intro to Cheers…

Also, of course, the penultimate Doctor Who of 2008 played out last night, and it was a bombastic glory, heavy on spectacle and set up, light on plot. Can’t wait for next week, after which it’s farewell to Doctor number ten until Christmas, although of course, Doctors one through eight are ready to transmit
