The Frozen Wastes of Troon

No, the title is not an unused location from the Star Wars movies, but an appropriate description of the beach of Troon this Easter Monday. Baltic, would do just as well, but entertain me slightly less, so The Ice Plains of Troon it is.

On the way, we drove past the golf course next to the beach, and my daughter spotted an enormously (probably morbidly) obese man dragging his golf bag along behind him. She pointed from the back seat, eyebrows furrowed as she tried to work it out, and then she eventually asked the question that was bothering her.. “Mummy, daddy, did he eat all the golf balls?” I’m glad I wasn’t driving, or there may have been a giggle-induced motoring fatality.

In an effort not to be that man in five years, I’m still running, and still planning to do the half marathon in September. It seems both a long time off, and very soon indeed…
